The Žito Group: more than half a million profit and a 1.8-percent higher sales in the first half of the year

Ljubljana, August 27, 2015 – The Supervisory Board of the company Žito d.d. discussed the annual report of the Žito Group and Žito d.d. for the period from January to June 2015 at today’s meeting. Sales of the Žito Group are by 1.8 percent higher in the first six months than sales in the comparable period in the last year , sales of the parent company Žito d.d. are higher by 2.9 percent. The net profit of the Žito Group in the first half of this year increased by 8 percent, while the net profit of the parent company Žito d.d. increased by 56 percent compared to the same period in last year.

That means that the Žito Group sold € 54.6 million worth of products, which is 1.8% more than last year when it sold € 53.7 million of products. The parent company Žito d.d. sold € 51.1 million worth of products and services in the first half of the year, which is 2.9% more than last year when it sold € 49.7 million of products and services.

The net profit of the Žito Group amounted to € 656.000 in the first half of the year, which is an increase by 8% in comparison with the same period last year, when the Žito Group generated a profit of € 603.000. In the first half of the year, the company Žito d.d. generated a profit of € 449.000; the net profit in the same period in the last year was lower by 56% and amounted to €199.000.

The financial debt of the Žito Group and the company Žito was reduced by 27%. At the end of the period in question, the Žito Group had 1,168 employees, which is 3% more than in the same period last year, when there were 1,134 employees in the Žito Group.

“Žito’s operations were successful in the first half of 2015, despite the involvement of employees in the sales processes of the company and the signing of a contract for the sale of the majority holding to the company Podravka at the end of April this year. That is why we are especially satisfied with the business performance of the Žito Group in the first half of the year,” said the CEO of the Management Board Janez Bojc. Bojc also stressed out that Žito strengthens the position of the company as a major player on the regional food market.

With 22 gold awards Žito is the only baking company that received awards for the excellent quality of bread and bakery products. For the sixth year in a row the company received the Trusted Brand award for teas 1001 Cvet and the Best buy awards for the best balance between quality and price for the rice Zlato Polje, spices Maestro spices, fresh bakery products of Žito anf for cereals for breakfast Zlato polje. This year the company celebrates the 90th anniversary of pasta Zlato polje.

In Žito they are also satisfied with this year’s harvest, because, as the crop is of great quality, according to estimations. Among Slovenian millers and bakers they bought the maximum amount of top-quality Slovenian bread wheat.

The company Žito will provide buyers on the Slovenian market with offers of all kinds of breads and bakery products made only from the highest quality Slovenian wheat. This will further consolidate the position of a bakery company with the highest number of awards for quality bakery products.
